Abarth 595 competizione Brembo brake discs and pads
Discussion
Hi all I need help. I have an abarth 595 competizione and argueing with fiat Glynn Hopkins for 18 months over constant squeaking when driving mostly under 15mph, squeaking disappears when braking and over 15 mph.
I have been arguing with them about this and now my car is out of warranty and still nothing has been done!
After having it one year and took it for its first service they already wanted to change pads and discs which when examined properly never needed replacing. I drive normally and never apply the brakes harshly!
Does anyone know how long Brembo brake discs should last for. I already replaced the brake pads once which was under warranty and just sick of Glynn Hopkins nonsense! They want to charge me £550 per Brembo brake disc plus labour! ! And what I should do? Fiat customer care were willing to open a case for me earlier in the year but the dealership brushed it under the carpet!
Please help!

Had this on my competizione, ended up replacing the rear pads, all sorted. Used to drive me up the wall!!!! I've read that dirt also build up on the pistons and a good clean gets rid of it, e.g taking out pads and doing it properly.
It was the rear pads that squeaked on mine.
Ye mine sound like they are coming from the front! It’s a balls ache!! It was the rear pads that squeaked on mine.
I will put that to fiat today!
I had rear ones replaced 18months ago under warranty after they were completely gone after driving them for less than a year and again town driving.

That's the cause of your problem !Oh another comment from fist now is discs are scored and they will not replace pads with out replacing the discs!
£550 each!!

To charge £550 for each disc with labour on top is ridiculous. You can buy parts directly from Brembo and get a local garage to fit them for you for considerably less.
Exactly my thought and if I had to I would! In fact I will argue till I’m blue in the face to get them to sort it and pay for it them selves. Other than that If anyone wants to buy my little pocket rocket I’m all ears!

Haha maybe I should thrash the car more!! Love the car and have the biggest smile when putting the accelerator down.

I was really serious ! A lot of people have squeaking brakes because they don't use them 'hard enough'. Especially the brake systems with calipers like on the front of your Competizione.Oh another comment from fist now is discs are scored and they will not replace pads with out replacing the discs!
£550 each!!
The two piece front discs are Brembo 09.B085.13, you can get them BOTH for under 350 GBP incl. VAT.
Had this on mine, I stripped cleaned and reassembled myself using dry lubricants, sorry can't recall the actual product off the top of my head, important this, using copper grease on brakes as many garages do will probably make it worse. No issues since, it was excessive dust build up in one caliper. Pads weren't badly worn or uneven, discs fine mileage was about 12k

If they are the 305mm discs with 4 pot calipers, they are shared with the Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo and unfortunately that's the way they are. When I had said Coupe, mine squealed at a snails pace yet were fine when braking from higher speeds.
If they are the 284mm discs, they are shared with the 8/16V Integrales and pretty much the same thing as above.
£550!! Jeez, that's ridiculous. Get replacements from Brembo/Demon Tweeks etc. E.g, Ferrari/Lamborghini charge a fortune for their Brembo brakes kits, including calipers (Pre-Carbon Ceramic) yet if you get the Brembo part Numbers, they are a fraction of the price. Many Integrale Evo's have F40 spec brakes.

I thought S4 didn't use two piece discs so should be even cheaper
He is right it is the 09.B085.13 discs that my Abarth has I can get front and back discs from euro parts or GSF parts fro £500inc vat! Opened up a case with fiat so waiting to hear the verdict!
If they replace the discs then will be a result!
Either way I am looking to sell my Abarth.
So if you know anyone interested then happy to share details
Despite the fact you think the noise is the fronts I’d put money on pulling your handbrake when hearing the noise and it will go.
The rear callipers are prone to sticking when you get about 50% wear. You can either clean or replace which is under an hours work and about £20.
If it is the fronts as mentioned light use is probably the cause and I can’t see how this is Fiats problem to fix.

I have tried the hand brake whilst moving and although it reduces it slightly it still is present.
Currently the rear brake pads at 80% worn to the wire. Now does that mean that they are 80% worn or that they are only about half worn?
Fiat have opened a claim up, as this has been going on for 2 years. Abarth replaces my rear pads after a year due to the Calipers not working properly which resulted I the pads being completely trashed as a result!
It’s been really frustrating my previous Abarth I had Zero issues!
