I'm currently looking to buy a Giulia Quadrifoglio and have seen one with the spec i want . Big concern for me is it's an ex demo car that was also a long term fleet car with Top Gear magazine . What's people's thoughts on this ? Would it have a negative impact on value etc .
Any input appreciated .

There are two ways to look at it...

1. You are getting a car that will have been hard used on both road and track

Or

2. You are getting a car you know pretty much everything about. You know what happened, when it happened and how it was taken care of by reading the long term TG reports. Equally, AR will likely have taken the best possible care of the car given it was with TG.

There are not many used cars you could acquire with that level of knowledge.

My two cents....

On a separate note, Im two years into ownership my only word advice would be get one!!!

Can't advise on the car, but several years back I bought an ex Alfa-Romeo press car - a 155 Q4. It came with a folder about an inch thick detailing everything it had done. It had certainly spent a good amount of time on track, but had been serviced and maintained better than any normal second hand car.

I still have the car,and I'm not planning on selling it!

It was even in a video on here a few years back - a PH meetup at Paul Stevens (I think,) Porsche somewhere near London then a run up into East Anglia to a car show.

Yes why not.

You know the history and it should’ve been well maintained

It’s got to be priced accordingly though, it has been driven hard, so should be reflected in the asking price.

At the end of the day i think as mentioned it does have an effect on the price of the car . I would be willing to purchase the car knowing it's well documented history . Some really great photo's of the car too , which is nice . For me the car is priced at a top value and the garage won't move on price so i'll wait for another to come to the market .
Thanks for the input guys really appreciate it .

Is it this one?

Discussed here:

To be honest, I'd avoid as there are much better examples out there if you can live without the carbon ceramic brakes and bucket seats.

BlackPorker , that's the one yes . Thank you for the link with the info . Makes for a very interesting read . As i understand it his mate bought it for £24k and sold it for £34k .Happy days . Would love to know how he managed to buy it for £24 k . The car's first registered owner was Alfa the second i don't know . The third owner sold the car a couple of weeks ago on ebay ( £36 K . I just missed it ) to the garage now selling the car at £42,950 .
I've not seen the car in person so don't know it's condition but have been told it's good . It's my perfect spec but i would be very interested to the condition of the Carbon brakes as a new set are 10K . I was hoping the price on Quad's was going down not up .
It's a mad world..

I've noticed the same. Mine is going for sale this week, so i've been monitoring the prices. Mine hasn't got the Carbon Ceramics or Seats.

Demolitionman13 good luck with the sale . Blackporker could you please enlighten as to why to avoid this one other than it being a press car . PM me if you don't want to post on a public forum . Any info appreciated .
Thanks

I have no specifics other than what we already know: ex-press car so definitely (ab)used, a couple of recent owners. Buy on condition!

Surely you have to expect that performance cars have been used as intended. I agree that some owners will be more mechanically sympathetic than others but I would expect a car like this to have been opened up frequently!
