If it’s euro 4 then it should have a dpf, no dpf is an mot fail if there are cut / weld marks that the mot tester believes the dpf has been tampered with.

From memory the dpf is fairly accessible and it’s obvious if you look on these.

Most likely the dpf has been internally gutted & left in place so there’s little visible evidence for the tester to find. Plenty of cars do get through MOTs in this state, & yes they would fail if it was detected.

Legalities aside I’d be a bit concerned about the quality of work done to remove the dpf. I’m no expert but guessing a bit of remapping is usually involved & I’d be quite wary of whom to trust with that.
