I'm looking at a 99, 145 cloverleaf that doesnt seem to have any service history.

Is it possible to phone an alfa dealer with the cars reg number and see if, when and where the car was serviced? Do the dealers have this sort of information?

thanks Colin.

The dealer(s) that serviced it will hold that info, but you'll have to work out which one(s) they are first!

{edited to add:} On a 6 year old car, I'd be tempted to buy on condition rather than paperwork but use the lack of paper to negotiate. Assuming it seems like a good 'un, of course.

Are they any major problem areas I should be checking on a 145?

As stated before buy on condition.

Check the usual stuff, condition of oil, fluids etc. and of course electrics (it is italian after all).

Check if it has had a cambelt change and knock £600 off the asking price if not. They are a bugger to change but don't pay to take on someone elses risk. Get the price down, and then decide if you want to spend the money you've saved on getting it done.

These are great cars, but can be expensive to service (twinspark, cambelts), and finding a good specialist can be difficult (I'm still looking!).

Best of luck, regards Neil
