So you press the Scorpion button and the steering firms up, throttle is more sensitive and a valve opens in the quad exhaust and you get that great burble at tick over.

But then the fun, probably annoying to others, exhaust note disappears as you pull away unless you really go for it.

So when driving it only becomes apparent again once you are on a fast A road, motorway etc, or going for it down country lanes. NSL of course.

So I suspect that Abarth have done this to stop the noise from being antisocial but isn't that what non Scorpion mode is for?

Thanks to YouTube I've discovered how easy it is to disconnect the exhaust valve switch so it's open all the time. Exhaust sounds great now (to me laugh ) in Scorpione mode, all through the rev range but of course, it's the same in Normal mode.

I usually drive in town in Non Sport to keep things quiet so just wondering if anyone knows why Abarth have effectively strangled the exhaust in Sports/Scorpion mode.

Anyone found an aftermarket switch that can operate the switch junction under the bonnet?

Cheers smile

It is probably so it still passes drive by noise regulations, even in noisy mode.

Give it a few months and the flap will seize open anyway.
I’m on my second exhaust - replaced under warranty.

This one has less than 4000 miles on it and it’s already seized. Dealer quoted £2400 for a new one. No thanks.

Is yours the spring valve or the vacuum one?

MY17 so the slash cut version - pressure actuated.
3k rpm I believe.

I didn’t think any of them were vacuum/switch operated - I may be wrong with the newer chrome tipped one though.

After a fun, to me, commute across London for work this morning I've reconnected the cable from the valve.

Want to go back to being stealthy in the 20mph zones biggrin

Great noise though, throughout the rev range whilst completely open. Some great barks under sudden acceleration and a few pops on down changes. Childish I know, but it tickles me.

60 odd year old pretending to be 18 again laugh

Just a shame it's not like that in Scorpione Mode.
