Ive got a 2001 156 2.5 v6 sportwagen, last night coming back from the pub I noticed the rear side light was sightly glowing. Unfortunately after sleeping of all the ale I had consumed it was still the same in the morning. Any ideas????

Also the electric Throttle unit always buzz's is this the normal.

Please help a very confussed Alfa owner

Can't be of too much help other than to say we have a 2.0 TwinSpark S/wag and the front nearside headlamp sometimes fails to light up. A bit of a thump (I kid you not!) gets it working again.

Well this morning its even worse, the side lights or the brake light don't work, apart from the side light glowing slightly.

I don't really know without sticking a meter on it, but it sounds like a bad earth somewhere, probably in the lighting circuit, have a quick look at all the exposed connections for corrosion. Just somewhere to start.

Does that model have an amber warning light on the speedo to say some of the lights aren't working by any chance?

Change the bulb- you'll likely have a broken fillament in the bulb.

The electronic throttle units do buzz.

Sounds like the bulb failure unit in the electronic rev counter pod is acting up. A new rev counter is £111.46 + vat retail- part number for the V6 is 60669702- but check first. Takes 5 minutes to change- dead easy.

Thats what I was thinking it was just didn't know where the unit was. Coz the earth is fine at the light sluster and the indicator is working fine aswell. The bulb is now on full bore kicking out 12v all the time so figured it might be something to do with the light failure management system, just didn't know where it was located. I will rip out the dash tonight and have a closer look

Cheers

Took the unit out and had a quick look inside the two chips to the right hand side do look burnt out and do supply the right hand side brake and side lights which are now both not working. and the first two pins on the chips are giveing out 12volts all the time unlike the other chips which monitor and control the ns which only give out 12volts when requested. So off to main deeler for a new rev counter. Cheers for your help on this one

Glad you're getting closer to a fix.

Alfamad - I would have thought a broken fillament would have meant the light never working?!? Still, it's only happened 3 times and hasn't happened for ages now

You watch it not work tomorrow now
