I have an early 90s low mileage Fiat Tipo 1.4 (carb) and two Alfa 155 cars in storage which i bought as a possible hosts for an engine upgrade project as I have an Integrale 8v, 16V and fiat 20V engines in storage but have reached the "paralysis by overanalysis" stage of deliberation as i am not sure which would be the easiest in terms of ECU, electronics.

The Fiat 20V engine is still in complete donor car and i had originally earmarked this engine for transplant into an alfa 155 (another hopefully DTM project also in storage).

The recent article in Auto Italia featuring a Tipo with a 16V turbo transplant got me thinking again.

The other option and probably cheaper is to put in an Fiat Abarth 595 1.4 turbo as these engines arew fairly plentiful on ebay.

Anyone done one of these recently or have any practical advice?

i accept there is no logic in wanting (more) modified cars in my stable but there you go.

Hi, the guy who services my Integrale and Alfa has put a 16v Integrale engine in his Punto, he races it too so has done the wider cam belt conversion.

You never wrote what form of 20V you have, NA or Turbo? 2.0 or 2.4..?

If its outright power, sound and dependence you want, I'll swear by the 2.0 20VT. Bombproof as long as fuelling is correct (as they can be boosted a lot) so you'll need good mapping/rolling road obviously. The occompanying 6-speed box & LSD(Viscodrive) are nice too.
These came different suspension with wider track so you might need wider front arches.

20V turbo - car is complete but engine will be needing stripping down, checking etc, was orginally earmarking this for an Alfa 155 project.

(and yes I already have an Alfa 155Q4 so please dont ask why i am considering doing this as it really doesnt make logical sense!)
