Seem to be having a bit of trouble with my sprint. Specifically it lights up the tyres very easily and its difficult to get full power down in first or second without the front end squirming away

Its kinda fun, but im not sure its right - the car is tuned but surely filters, exhaust and a bit of a port + polish + rolling road tune shouldnt make so much of a difference?

Possibly just the front tyres - I think they are full on summer types.

They all do that sir. Especially if it's a 1.7 - my old 33 used to veer about a metre to the right if I booted it away from traffic lights. Lowering the suspension slightly did improve it, but at the expense of a dreadful ride. Suds & 33s all have quite a lot of negative front camber which probably doesn't help.

Chris, you need a front crossmember, and front suspension arms inc ball joints from a 1.7 Sprint or 33. Changes the castor and reduces the torque steer a lot.

As said, lowering it a little will help too.

I had a 1.7 sprint up untill recently and it did torque steer quite a bit. The biggest problem I had was stopping in the wet, it used to lock the front wheels very easily and it gave me a couple of big scares! So get good tyres and take care in the wet.
I still miss mine.
