Need a reasonably reliable and frugal run about and a 156 2.4 JTD seems to fit the bill.

Any horror stories or are they fairly sound but a touch 'italian'?

Cheers
Matt

I have one, and have had a month now.

Absolutely great all rounder. Good top end, with baaags of torque (read, feed in power/clutch smartly!)

Good boot, reasonable 4 seats and decent inside. Quite a rare spec, so you won't see many, if any, around. Nice Q car in my eyes, as it surprises many!

It's a great car, had a SW 150bhp one for 3 years and 69k so far, very good experience. You must find a good dealer or indi though.

Another thumbs up from me Matt, excellent all rounders, and do go well indeed.
Clutches can be expensive to fit as it's a major job, but other than that, they are pretty reliable....yes, it's true - well mine was

Mine was an X reg sportwagon - in my view, the nicest shape estate on the market (still), they even make quite a nice noise for a diesel.
