Alfa 147 JTD any good?
Discussion
I have been looks for a decent diesel with remap potential that's not going to break the bank.
these 147s seem to have depreciated alot making them affordable to people like me. I think there a very sexy car too and the interior is very very nice.
I have a punto at the moment so i know Italian cars can be abit hit and miss.
Is the 147 JTD and good performance and reliability wise.
My dad had a JTD van and it clocked up 170,000 miles so they seem to be pretty strong.
any expensive things that generally go wrong with them?
Thanks

We got a used 147 5 door JTD Lusso last month and have been very pleased with it so far. It's the 8 valve 115bhp version. It replaced a much loved 145QV and it does everything we were looking for in the replacement. It looks good, it's comfortable, it's well equipped and drives very well. It won't (can't!) match the excitement of the 145QV which was a real old school hot hatch, but nor were we expecting it to, and it's a lot cheaper to run.
Only problem so far has been a screw in the back tyre which was repairable. I am sure someone will be along soon to say that their Dullsmobile has never had a puncture and therefore you should never buy an Alfa, but I'm ready for them!

I've got the 147 1.9 (115 BHP) JTD , and so far no problems whatsoever (That's put the curse on it then!...
). Got the TI Version with the sports suspension and 17's on it and it handles really well. If you can try and get one with the MOMO Leather sports seats really comfy and supportive.

The 1.9 16v MJet is the one to have. Stonking engine - obviously it doesn't really rev as it's a diesel, but massive torque & a great overtaker. Used to have one despite being a diesel-loather, and now I kind of miss it - especially going up twisty Alpine roads where it would have been in its element. The 147 didn't have much more boot space than my current Punto, but I'd definitely have it back.
Ran a 16v Diesel over christmas last year. Rather shocked the 2.5 boxster driving numpty who tried to run me off at the lights!
Found it to be a great car to drive - obviously I only amanged about 1000 miles in it so no idea on reliability etc, but felt solid never missed a beat and really went very well...

What he says! I've just done over 2000km in a Rental car in France; really comfortable seats, nice steering feel and excellent brakes.
