The drivers side wing mirror mount has corroded and the coating flaked off recently leaving a white residue showing which isn't very nice on a 2 year old car. Alfa want £162 for the complete assembly, but I only need the mount which you can't buy seperately.

Looked on eBay (part #156036536) with no luck and Google doesn't return anything with that part number.

Any ideas?

You could try Alfashop 01603 426277 or EB Spares 01373 823856.

Try www.shop4parts.co.uk alfa and fiat specialist £66 and £69 plus vat for the mirrors complete if you want black. They also do in primer for extra.

Larry I do lots of these, just done one for a chap local to me, I can strip and paint it black for you for £50 other colours £65.

They take about 5 minutes to take off and will cost no more than £10 P+P both ways!

The wing mirror itself is fine, it's the section that's mounted onto the car which holds the wing mirror in place that has the problem. This seemd to be powder coated rather than painted? Maybe that's just because my car is black. I'll get a picture of it sometime when it's light!

The mounts are powder coated and if it cracks water gets in and lifts the rest of it. It often starts if you turn your mirrors in when parking. Same on a lot of Fiats of the same period. Mine wasn't too bad and I touched it in with satin black paint and it put it on until I got rid of the car. Not ideal I know. Worth asking if the dealer will do anything under warranty - I didn't get anywhere, but I'm sure someone on here said they did.

Yep it always is, if you pop the plastic corner piece out of the front corner of the window with a large flat bladed screwdriver protecting the paint with a cloth.

You will reveal 3 Allen screws (6mm from memory?) and a white plastic plug, pull the plug over the door card (you will see what I mean there is a slot pull it over to stop the female part dissapearing back down the doorcard when released) and release the plug, then undo the allen screws.

Now gently remove the mirror assembly, under the mirror you will find 3 small torx screws., on removing these the mirror and plinth seperate.

This whole job takes less than 5 minutes, and its extremely easy to do, no dismantling wiring, no springs flying in different directions, anyone could do it.

Also if you send me 2 the second one will only cost £10, thus guaranteeing a match between the two.
