Hi

I've just bought a Alfa Romeo 166.

Its a 2000 with 48K on the clock. I can't see recpit for the timing belt being changed.

When would it need changed? how mutch would it cost because I'm very scared of running around on an 8 year old belt.

Cheers

Asked a similar question myself for my V6 GTV - price for a belt change seems to be circa £500.

Going to end up costing me more as I need a new waterpump, idlers and other odds and sods.

Every 5y / 48k is sensible. I'd get it changed ASAP. Should get change from £400 at a good specialist, rising to £700-odd from a dealership.

Also fit the waterpump from a 3ltr gtv v6 engine as it has the metal impeller . The plastic ones on our 2.5 v6's are weak and when they let got it'l cost you another £400 to fix minimum. I fitted the GTV waterpump its exactly the same as the 2.5's waterpump (impeller asides)

Ps nice car! I've got the 156 v6 and i hear the 166 build quality is improved over the 156.
