GTV V6 - Lusso or Cup?
Discussion
Still umming over the 2.0 vs V6.
Now....
What's the main difference between the standard V6 and the Cup version? Looking on a couple of sites, the Cup seems to have 2bhp less, and very marginally slower - why?
The Cup's interior doesn't look as nice as the Lusso either - seats in particular - at least in the photos anyway. Can anyone advise otherwise?
Which is the best to go for? I assume it's group 19 insurance for both versions?
Cheers

Pretty sure the Cup is mechanically identical to the Phase 2 3.0, the only differences being the interior and the body kit. People who have owned both reckon that although the Cup seats don't look as nice, they hold you in place better.
Personally I don't like the body kit at all so it'd be a normal, non-Cup, non-aerokit V6 for me.
edit to add the bit about the seats

Hi Phil,
Take the v6 over the 2.0 t/s.
Even though I was happy with the 2.0 at the time, I wish I opted for the v6 the second time around.
Have you driven both car? If not this could be why you might be unsure.
Listen to the v6
then give it some right foot. After, jump into the 2.0 and even though they still sound very nice, give it some right foot and thats what made me think twice -
Plus V6 will also hold its money better than the 2.0 as will a GTV Cup over the V6.
Its just a matter of weighing the pros and the cons.
Good luck
Gareth

Thanks Gareth. Must admit, I have not driven the V6 yet - I'm still looking for a good-un in my area to come up. Driven a few of the 2.0s, and to be honest the whole car feels exactly the same as my Cloverleaf, which I like. Hoping the V6 will add some spice. The Cup, in pictures, just has something more exotic about it. It's a stunning piece of kit.Take the v6 over the 2.0 t/s.

Yep - the differences between the V6 lusso and cup are purely cosmetic.
Over the V6, the Cup gets:
Deep front air dam
Fake side vents
Slightly different colour alloys
Side skirts
Half leather (as opposed to full leather) - stops you sliding about so much on the seat (both are equally bad at holding you in place)
Dash plaque
I think that's the lot.
The 2bhp difference you may have spotted isn't a Cup thing it's a Euro-III vs Euro-II spec emissions thing. In 2000/2001 the 3.0V6 engine went to Euro-III and lost 2bhp as a result. Since all Cups are 2001+, they're all on the Euro-III engine whereas the non-Cup Ph2 cars could be either depending on age.

Hi I've driven the 145 2.0 and I own the V6 GTV and there is a world of difference. The 145 is nice and nippy but the GTV is a bit of a monster - much more power, more of a GT.
