Urgent GTV help please!
Discussion
Just been to see a wonderful GTV V6 tonight - 1999 model.
It's a great car in every way, apart from the clutch. It changes gear just fine, but it's f'ing heavy, like it's got a double-strength recoil spring under it, and much less travel than I was expecting. It's the first V6 i've driven; all the 2 litres have a light clutch, exactly the same at my 145 cloverleaf.
If this a sign of impending doom, or is the V6's clutch naturally heavier?
Rear suspension also squeeked a little - sounded like rubber against metal on both sides at the rear. He said he's had it checked out, to no avail. Wishbones were recently replaced for what it's worth.
Wisdom on both issues greatly appreciated asap, as i'm seriously interested.
Cheers

The clutch on mine is quite heavy but nothing serious, so I'm not sure about that. The squeaking suspension sounds like bushes on the way out, this happened on mine and it was the spring pan bushes, so I poly bushed the lot, no more squeaks and better handling but a slightly noisier/rougher ride. It cost about £400.00 to fit the bushes.

Hi. I can tell you of my experiences. I had a 147 twin spark 2 litre and now have a year 2000 GTV V6 which I've owned for five weeks but have done 3,000 miles in including 2,700 touring Italy the last fortnight on honeymoon. The 147 was great and I'd have another. The GTV clutch I find lighter than the 147, very easy; they're also self adjusting. The rear suspension has rose joints and can have the odd slight squeek. The V6 really comes alive above 4,500. Try 4,500 to 6,500 in fourth - abroad, of course. It's a great car in every way, apart from the clutch.
