as per title, my mates bravo HGT has just blown its head gasket, and rather than messing around stripping it down and geting it all skimmed etc and then timed up i was wondering if anyone new of an engine for sale with a realtively new timing belt on.

doesnt need to have the inlet manifold on, but needs to be complete with head and belt and not too expencive

if anyone knows of any in the se i would be grateful to hear

Many thanks

Same engine in Marea and Coupe too I think, so might be worth ringing some breakers. I would always put a new belt on any unknown engine though. Should be a bit easier with the engine on the floor! Good luck with it.

yep, it is the same engine. well up to the t reg when they went to the 155 bhp vis engine. i have one in my marea, but the timings out and ive not long finished putting it in from my written off hgt

i would try scrappies, but i know they are very very very thin on the ground in the se.

i know what you mean about the belt, but my thinking was to save him money and also the worry of doing the timing belt myself incase its out etc and geos pop, on my car i dont mind, but as its for a mate i cant guarantee anything and dont want the worry etc. if somone on here has one like i asked for id be happier to accept things as is as the vast majority of people on here are legit good guys that look after their cars

Nope - that's a completely different engine. It's a cylinder short, for a start.

I would love to give it a go, a chap on the FIAT forum looked at fitting one but I think there is a space issue, he is going down the route of a turbo instead!!
