Another fairly accurate rumour - there is going to be a 4.0 litre (approx) 159 GTA but there are concerns of the well known 159/brera weight issue

Maserati engine I assume

Surprised about the weight issue, given that the 159 platform is losing 150 kilos (IIRC) in the fairly near future...

4.0 159. so we are talking about something with around 350bhp? that would be awesome.

A local dealer told me last week it will lose this is 2 stages. 75kg early next year, then another 75kg very late 2008 along with a face lift.

Yes, that's pretty much what I understood, although the second 75kg was just 'later in 2008' when I heard it.

Regardless, it'd be a surprise for them to launch a GTA (remembering what the 'A' stands for) version of the current car, which has been criticised for its weight, when there is a lighter version of the platform just round the corner.

Seems more likely they wait until the facelift and launch it then.

I'm sure it'd be a great car if they did it, though.
