punto gearbox failure!!! HELP!!

[S3 rich]

54 plate punto 1.2 8v, gear stick 'clicked' then would only engage in 2nd, now stuck in 2nd, gearstick moves forwards & backwards as if a linkage has come off.

has anyone else had this or can anyone tell me if there is a simple fix, or do we need to take it to a garage??

need to get fixed before sunday night, otherwise the wife has the choice of the tvr or VR6 as a work chariot.

Looks like you've just got two linkages so I guess one of the ball joints or connections has broken.
