Just looked at an Alfa GTV 2.0 T Spark. Took it on a test drive but it wouldn't rev past 4000 rpm. Dealer seemed to think it was a straight forwared problem and will get it sorted. Should I be worried?

Sounds like the Air Flow Meter, common problem and a simple job.

As the others have said, deffo maf. You can pick one up cheaper than the dealer though, try alternative autos for a genuine Bosch one. Its only a ten minute job to do yourself.

Just about to buy the car so I will make sure the dealer sorts it out properly. Was just concerned it was something worse that would have bitten my bum a few months down the road. Thanks for putting me straight.

why would a dealer let a car out for a test drive with that sort of fault. Buyer beware.

It is a local trader, only has a small number of cars sold from home. He came back to me that his mechanic has identified it as the flow meter and is in the process of replacing it. When I test drove it I didn't hit the problem until I made it out of traffic and put my foot down. Prior to that it ran smoothly and I was pootling in traffic absolutely fine.

let us know how you get on, might have similar on my 166. Just started today hesitating at 2500rpm, especially under load.
