Hi, I am in th process of buying my first Alfa (99 3.0 V6 GTV) and wanted to ask if anyone was aware of a good Alfa Specialist in Essex? I live in Chelmsford.

Thanks

Hi mate, I'm in Chelms as well. John Whalley out in Stortford does Alfa's - I use him for my 'Grale - maybe worth a call 01279 654181. Always found them ok.

There's always AMC, who in their defence aren't *that* bad. Failing that you're not far from The Alfa Workshop (http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/), who're very good smile

I've been on the Alfaworkshop site and they look like they know what they are doing. Loads of good info on they site as well. Never heard of John Walley. I'll give him a call anyway. Thanks for the info. Cheers

There's also Clovertech in Dagenham Essex. Lloyd is very knowledgable and one of only a few people I trust to work on my car, his number's 020 8984 7220.

Nice choice of car by the way, a future classic!

Thanks for that. Used to live not far from Dagenham and know roughly where that is. I'll give Lloyd a call.

I must confess I was originally looking for a semi-classic that I could use everyday and looked at TVRs, Lotus Elans etc and test drove a few. A friend of mine used to have a GTV 2.0 ts and I loved it. I thought they would be too much money to insure and run but having done a bit of research, seems I was mistaken.

Have looked at a few GTV V6s and liked the look of this one. Terrific drive and a fantastic sound.

Any tips on Alfa ownership aside from good and regular servicing and plenty of polish (aside from driving the thing obviously !!

I can strongly recommend PowerFiat in Basildon, a little known fact is that they also do Alfas (well GTV alongside the Fiat Coupe). Awesome service from a lovely bunch of knowledgable guys you can trust, and usually far cheaper than anyone else. The owner himself had a beautiful showroom condition GTV - not sure if he still has it, but my god, what a car!!

Anyway, the link - http://www.powerfiat.co.uk/

I'll second Jamie at Alfa Workshop.

Don't use him myself, but a good friend swears by him - he's done work on my friend's Sprints, did a lot of work on his 3lt Giulietta conversion, looked after his 156 TSpark, his 166 V6 and now his 156 V6.

Definitely recommended.

Last I heard he was running a starship miles 164 TSpark as a courtesy car.
