Hi,
Im considering an Alsfasud. I have a 106 rallye s1 at the moment. I Have always liked the 'sud and would get one with a restored body if I bought. I am curious to see how they handle and steer after seeing rave reviews (autocar seem to like them). I am thinking about the '70s 1.3 ti mainly.

Im interested if anyone has ownership experience they can share? Do they need regular mechanical maintenence or are they fairly reliable?

Thanks,
Tim

Rust, rust, rust, rust....

Very rare in good condition. Mechanically pretty reliable I believe.

Rust can be an issue and you'll need to make sure you have a really good look at the known weak spots, but since the most recent Suds are now over 25 years old it's likley that if the problem was terminal the car would have long since been scrapped.

Had an Alfa Sud Sprint many years ago - the prettier coupe version! - Fantastic fun and I have often toyed with the idea of getting a race prepared Sud or Sprint. Rust will definately be an issue and I am sure that modern dynamics and performance have moved on but the engines sound great.

I don't know anything about them but I have browsed their site when I have been thinking of scratching my own Alfa itch.

My first car was a Sud 1.5Ti and apart from the rust issue it was a brilliant car with a great flat 4 engine and an interior, dials e.t.c. which were typically Alfa yes Loved it!!
