Anyone here had any luck claiming for a partial repaint via Alfa body/paintwork warranty. The front bumper, bonnet, wings and trailing edges of rear wheelarches on my Alfa Red Brera are completely peppered with stone chips. Its by far the worst paintowrk on any car I've ever owned. Its a 2006 with 20K miles and no, I don't follow gritters for fun!

If anyone has had any success would love to hear from you nad how you went about claiming.

They do seem to attract chips don't they?
I would be amazed if you get anywhere but let us know if you do!

Yes that is exactly like mine plus approx 50 stonechips on front end of car plus screen pillars and trailing edge of rear side windows. My Alfasuds back in the 80s had better paint than this, and to think they charge you extra for it. Has it improved with 2007/2008 cars?

Mine's silver so it doesn't show as badly but the rear lower arches are not good. I wonder why they didn't extend the protective film lower down?

Yep I've got similar probs on my Silver Brera, (23k), more so on the front end than the arches for some reason?? Several large chips on the bonnet, bumper and A pillars and numerous small ones frown
I had similar problems with my previous Lipari Grey GT, so bad that it required a front end re-spray by the dealer before they could re-sell it!!

From speaking to a mate who runs a body shop this issue is common to most makes and models and is a problem created by modern water based paints. They may be healthier to apply and better for the enviroment, but they are a lot 'softer' which can only lead to more chips...

I'm a massive Alfa fan, but IMO that isn't acceptable.

There was a post on an Alfa forum, and apparently Mercedes have a new ceramic based laquer which is much harder.

If you do get the panel resprayed, maybe ask for the Mercedes laquer! I would be absolutely gutted if that was my car frown
