Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese - Anyone been?
Discussion
I'm due in Milan early June and fancied visiting the Alfa Museum for the first time. My father was a big Alfa dealer in the 70's and 80's, my first car was an Alfa so they've always been a passion since being a nipper. We had a book on the museum kicking round the house as the old man went there for a meeting in the 80's i think and i thought it looked an awesome place.
Just wondered if anyones been and what the crack was, i've emailed them for 2 places so we'll see what comes back, but was wondering how long to allow for a decent look round etc. I've got meetings on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday then we're flying to Latvia, but we have the Monday to kill so i wanted to do this.
How long does it take from Milan and is it easier to hire or is there a decent train link?
Thanks.
Rog.

I last went about three years agos, i seem to remember i faxed them rather than e-mailed but no idea what I've done with the fax number.
If you wander round on your own I would say 2 to 3 hours should cover it, however if you get the excellent tour guide it can be longer than this.
It is not accessible by train and not the easiest place to get to by car as it was badly signposted when I went, however car is prob best way unless you can afford to splash out on a taxi. Its off the A8 Autostrada northwest of Milan, we came off at the Rho exit, home of Zagato incidentally.
I would definitely recommend it, its an eerie place as its tucked in the old factory offices which are now unused and on my last visits we were the only visitors.

yeah, i emailed them before and they said to drop them a line nearly the time, so i said "preggo" and emailed them again today.
my father borrowed a car from the Alfa Collection for one of his openings, so i was hoping to be reunited with it again, some 29 years later, would make a cool pic i thought. i might take the picture with me........
cheers for the info, i've been on the website too.

I visited last year. An excellent museum; three hours should be enough (including sneaking around some of the other buildings which have amazing cars here and there, lol)Booking is pretty relaxed. If you just turn up they take your passport for the duration of the visit. It's in an industrial area so car/taxi is a must. Parking is no problem now that there is only a skeleton factory staff :-(
Twin engined 30s car and late 70s sports prototype are stunning :-)
