Recently my mates Alfa has been hunting for its idle revs and will often die when pulling up to lights etc (ie clutch in foot on break and no throttle).

I've had similar problems on previous cars and it's been the air idle valve that just needs a clean. Could this be a problem on a GTV? if so, where is it and can I get to it easily enough???

My 146ti did the same. Turned out it was the Lambda sensor.

Yes, especially if it's a Twinspark, the Idle Control valve will need cleaning.
