I'm currently looking at opting out of my boring Passat TDI company car and buying my own.

I do around 35k miles a year and get a gross allowance of £475 / month, which is conveniently enough to buy a brand new 147 Selespeed (there are some imports around at huge discounts), tax, insure and maintain it.

I know of all the issues Alfa had with early Selespeed cars, but I believe the later ones are pretty reliable.

Is there any really good reason not to run one for 3 years, with the expectation that it'll be worth sod all by the time I've finished with it and will be a 'freebie' for the wife to run around in for a few years once I've finished with it?

The company will give me a fuel card, pay for all business and private use..... all I need to do is pay income tax on my private fuel - but I'll also be claiming my tax relief on my business mileage.

Because I can't get a brand new 147 TS Veloce manual for that kind of money?
