2.0JTS belt changes
Discussion
Going to look at a bit of an oddity tomorrow.
It's a 56 plate 156 Sportwagon JTS.
However, all is not what it seems - it's a pre-facelift car, so will have obviously sat around in storage for a while before sale - probably over in the Far East - before being re-imported to the UK.
The car has only done around 10k miles in 2 years, so, even on the 'safe' reduced belt change interval, it wouldn't technically be due until next year, however, given that it has been in storage for a while before sale, would you say it was worth doing the belt ASAP? - I suppose it's a bit of a negotiating point anyway.

I would get it changed now. The cost isn't that high for the 4 cylinders compared to the absolute pain if it fails.
Check out www.alfaowner.com for further details of what should be changed.

It's what I thought.
Car will be bought fairly soon and parked up for 2 months until my lease car goes back anyway - so I have plenty of time to get the belt done.
Not concerned about cost or where to take it - my local mechanic is really good and did our TSpark belt earlier this year.
He'll be quite amused to get a 2 year old car with 9k miles on it in for a belt change....
So long as I can get it home, I'll be happy - just gives me a bit of leverage on price - especially as it appears that the car was in storage for 3 years before it was registered!
Not a big issue, as it's probably the best variant of the 156 - phase 1 shell with phase 2 interior. Sportwagon, too, with tan leather.

Well, I bought it.
Turns out that it's a TSpark, not JTS.
Absoluely no idea what the build date was, but registered in October 2006 - on a 56 plate.
Drives well, as you'd expect from something so 'new'.
Paid deposit today, collect on Saturday.
£5400. But I have to sort out my own warranty. Not an issue.
'Tesco Finest Car Warranty', believe it or not.
Watch for exploding Sillyspeed posts later this year....
