Hi,

With the 156 you only get two black flip keys. No red keys are provided by Alfa.

That's certainly the case on newer ones. I think the older ones had red keys though - I've had them as courtesy cars and got a different design, red key to use.

I'm not sure what the original poster is asking but if he's on about master keys, I'm pretty sure the 156 never used them - they only ever shipped with two identical everyday keys. On the earlier versions these were red, on later cars they were the black flip keys.

ricksalfas you seem to know your stuff - could you clarify something for me? The back seats in all age of 156 saloon definitely do not fold down do they?

I'm afraid they don't no. Some have a rear armrest/ski tunnel thingy.
Sportwagon rear seats go almost completely flat.

I thought so, thanks ricksalfas, still trying to find a good sportwagon and struggling, so had thought about a saloon but we tend to put mountain bikes in the boot quite a lot, so would need foldy down seats if we went saloon route....

Have you thought about a 147?
They're built on the same chassis as the 156 and with the seats down have a decent amount of space. Easier to find a good 147JTD than 156JTD. Worth a look.

I used to have a 145 and that was great for bikes - 3 used to go in stood upright (wheels off).

Thanks for the tip, might have to have a look. Really had got heart set on a sportwagon but certainly good ones seem to be quite rare...
