I have just started to use a Alfa Romeo gt jtd whilst my usual car is in the garage.I'm impressed with the build quality ,styling, and the engine pulls well. This is the first alfa i have driven so i didn't know what to expect, has anyone run one of these cars long term ?

Very popular car. Glad you are enjoying it.
The mechanicals are basically 147/156 so well proven (that's Alfa talk for you know what to expect... biggrin ).

I've had mine for coming up to six months now, and it is absolutely the best car I have ever owned. Mine is an entirely standard 1.9 Jtd, black, with black leather and 18" wheels. As an all-rounder it is excellent; fantastic torque, 40+mpg (on a run), 35+mpg (in Central London where I live), and as happy pootling around town as it is barrelling down the motorway in Europe. My only gripe is the lack of a V6 soundtrack, but that is hardly the car's fault.

The cabin is really well appointed, and with the winter pack is good for all seasons. I've also replaced the rubbish manufacturer's ICE with a Kenwood 5220 Sat Nav Double Din head unit and I am very impressed with it.

For the 15 grand I paid for it (year old with 25k miles) I'm not sure I can think of many other cars that are as good an all-rounder as this one. It'll be a difficult decision when I go about changing it next year - I think a change up to a 4200 GT, 911 (996), or Mercedes SL will be on the cards, but even then, at a loss of practicality and worse mpg.

Okay - I've gone on and on, but as you can tell, I'm very impressed with the car - hope you are enjoying running yours.

Thanks, Ned. I'll definitely be bringing it up to you when it needs some TLC (I'm hearing great things indeed about your servicing business)...only major drama so far has been the g/f introducing the nearside front alloy to a kerb, but as she was my chauffeur after several bottles of vino (me not her) I'll forgive her....eventually....!

Hope all is well with you and yours. Stay in touch.
