Discounts on Fiat 500's?
Discussion
Has anyone been able to get a good discount on a Fiat 500? Looked at one for my wife and went for a 1.4 Lounge with a few options, leather sports seats, dome roof, etc.. but when it came down for the numbers struggled to get a couple of hundred off the list price.
I thought dealers were meant to falling over themselves to sell cars.
Has anyone else faired better? Am i bad at negotiating? or should i just be talking to other dealers?

..... quite funny too, list faux leather as frau leather, is there something i should know?
It's not meant to be faux. It is Poltrona Frau which is a leather manufacturer that supplies leather to the Fiat Auto group www.poltronafrau.comisuk said:

Broadspeed used to work by taking 50 deposits from customers and then going to a Fiat dealer and getting a fleet discount. This is illegal because when a fleet deal is done, the fleet must hold onto those vehicles for a set period of time (3,6 or 12 months dependant on the deal). Broadspeed would get the discount, pre register the car and then sell it onto the customer.
Fiat got wise to this practice and do not supply any Fiat vehicle to broadspeed.
I know of a customer who placed a deposit with broadspeed in Feb for a 500 and guess what? Its now November and they have no car and no deposit returned.
Buyer beware. I am not saying that broadspeed cannot supply any vehicles, because I know that they do buisness the other marques, but not Fiat.

It is still the case, that you should not get a discount on 500 from any franchised Fiat dealer. Fiat see discounts as devalueing the product and have therefore stopped any Fiat dealer from advertising discounts.
This may well be the way of things to come, as with the launch of the Abarth brand. Although there are only 10 Abarth dealers in the country at the moment, you should not be able to get discount on Abarth through any of these outlets.

I rang a large North West based dealer (the beginning sounds fruity
) and was told no discount on factory ordered cars but i could/would get a full retail experience from them (whatever that is??).
Back to the original dealer then and hopefully we'll see how good it is in January '09.
If anyone else is doing better than a couple of hundred i'd still be interested to know.

A Fiat dealer makes about £300 a unit on the 500. so getting anything thrown in is gonna to be a challenge.

Try these people, they seem to have many pre-registered cars.

) to get the initial discount as seemed only fair as i always just wanted to check what i was been told was honest. Looking at delivery in Jan 2009 as at stage 13(? - light modification) in the factory. Now a VAT bonus to boot of £270 ish - Cheers Darling (sarcasm) - so it all helps.
Any clues to which dealer you're at? Always good to deal with other PHer's if the chance presents itself.
