Thinking about buying an older (2001) 156 2.4jtd and wondered what it is possible to eke out of them powerwise by remapping etc.

190bhp and more if you want to get silly.
You need a strong clutch though!

190 would do - how much and how easy?

take it to one of many tuning places and they will reprogram (or replace) the ECU.

I think it costs between £20 and £400 depending on where it gets done..

Take it to a remap place - Red Dot or Angel Tuning and give them your money!!

Do keep an eye on the clutch/transmission though.
They weren't designed for 300lb ft of torque....

Get a superchip which is a re programme of the ECU, it a bit more expensive but worth every penny.

Done it!! But fears about the clutch were well founded - horrendous slip, although I think it was coming to the end of it's life anyway (73k miles). Hopefully a new one will be man enough to cope.......
