I have a 2003 156 and over the last couple of days it has been an effort to change down gear and I have suspected the clutch was wearing. The bite point was almost at the start as you lifted your foot up. Today it has failed completely - so putting the clutch pedal flat to the floor won't let me engage a gear. Does this mean my clutch has gone and if so where would you reccommend in Surrey (near Weybridge) to get it fixed?

thanks very much

Does pumping the clutch pedal help? Wondering if the slave or master cylinder have gone...

If the biting point was low, then it doesn't mean the clutch is worn. I never serviced my 156 (company car) but I guess it's a hydraulic system, have a look at the clutch reservoir level to see if it's low. Also follow the hydraulic hose and look for leaks.

If it is, then any garage or mobile car servicing company can refill and bleed it for you, but it's unusual for the clutch fluid to disappear. So they should also check for leaks in either master or slave cylinder, or the hose that connects them.

Shouldn't be too expensive...

Sounds very similar to an experience I had with my 155 a few years back, about 5 weeks later the clutch went.

Doesn't mean you've got the same problem though.
