£190K !!!! Be worth about £50K in a couple of years !
It'd be nice wouldn't it Although, I think these are going to hold up quite well.... I mean in the current climate you would expect to see a few people that have overstretched themselves trying to off-load asap, but there's hardly any for sale and the one in the link sold virtually as soon as it came on.
I know that Alfa were cherry picking owners with a view to finding cherished collectors rather than the usual run of the mill speculators. So if they do all end up in private collections, etc, then the values probably won't drop very much if at all.

There are (if I recall correctly) 3 or 4 of us on here who were on the 8C list. One is a Yank, so has his from outside of the UK allocation, and aside from me I think I have spoken to 2 other chaps in the UK who were on the initial list, though I cant remember if one of them was a "reserve" though.
Apart from the Yank, none of us IIRC were "special" or cherished Alfa owners/collectors, etc. Hell, Im just me and lets be honest, even with the best will in the world, not even my wife or mother would call me cherished!
As far as I am aware we were just early in getting our details down with Alfa. In my case it was literally nothing more than wandering up on the Alfa stand and enquiring about the car at the motorshow 3/4 years back. I was told the bimbos on the stand didnt know much, nor did the Alfa blokw, but someone from the 8C team would contact me at a later did. I forget how it then panned out, but imagine my suprise when my very own Big Red Book, orders papers, letter of confirmation, asking price and car number turned up. Unsure as to whether this was actually the real mythical limited UK list, I spoke to DD himself and he confirmed I was indeed holding one of the golden tickets.
As it was, after more conversations with DD, trying to confirm various facts, I turned my place in the queue down. At no point during the process could I get a confirmed price from Alfa - the cost of the car actually went up £20k during my time in the queue - they messed my 8C "owners" invitations up to view the car in Paris and Geneva, I had issues with what the luggage capacity was - could it actually handle for instance the 2 ppl+ luggage down to Europe for a week long holiday. The lack of clarity over the price and my own fears that it would actually suffer Alfa depreciation and not be able to carry its high price tag led me to say no.

Interesting thoughts, only time will tell.I know that Alfa were cherry picking owners with a view to finding cherished collectors rather than the usual run of the mill speculators. So if they do all end up in private collections, etc, then the values probably won't drop very much if at all.

What will happen with the 8C prices when the 169 is launched with the same engine / chassis ?
Nothing. Or almost nothing. The only thing that might affect it (ignoring global financial conditions for the moment) would be if they go ahead with the "8C GTA" or whatever the rumour mill is calling it at the moment.

The problem with you argument is that it doesn't take in to account the shortage of cars for instance........You'd give £50k wouldn't you, well I would too, in fact I'd give £55k. You still want it so in light of my offer you'd give £60k and eventually the whole process finds us at rather more than the £50k you thought it would be worth. There are more people out there than there are cars who would pay £50k to own an 8C.
