Hi chaps,

I'm interested in perhaps buying a 1999 GTV6.

What are these like to drive? I know they're only FWD, but what are the driving dynamics like? I'm more interested in cornering ability than straight line speed.

Cheers,

Alex

They're very good, despite the fwd. The rear suspension is pretty fancy, so when you accelerate out of the apex of a corner, it tucks in nicely and feels rwd.

However, if you're after cornering prowess then the lighter engined twin spark is a neater, less understeering package than the heavy V6.

For 1999, presumably you mean a GTV V6

Although looking at those photos, the GTV6 is the one I'd be after...

I think I just wet myself.

But if you're looking at a '99 GTV V6, perhaps widen your horizons (and your budget) to a GTV Cup. Can't remember the year but I saw a 2002 52 reg one on eBay with a Buy It Now price of £8.5k

What is your budget?

156 GTAs can be had for very reasonable prices these days.

...but bear in mind that the Cups are just phase II V6s with some cosmetic details changed, so if you like the look and can find one, go for it.
