A garage on a trading estate I work on has one of these cars.
Never seen one before think its fantastic looking and would be an interesting toy.

Has anyone got/had one?

Cracking cars. When we got our 2nd HPE, I think it was only because we couldnt get our hands on a Volumex at the time. Even when we sold the HPE, I think dad was still vaguely toying with the notion of a Volumex.

I have had a Coupe i.e. version since 1989, this is the model below the Volumex. I toyed with a Volumex at the time, but read that they were quite thirsty and that they had certain parts specific to the supercharged engine; head gasket, sodium cooled valves and different gearbox ratios. I think the supercharged model had 135bhp compared to the i.e.'s 122bhp. When I was 21 those things must have been important, oh and the fact that they only imported a couple of hundred of the Volumex models limited their availability!

It is still great fun to drive, one of those cars where you don't need to be going that quickly to have an enjoyable drive. It certainly feels agile and looks small compared to current cars. Mine is used as a daily station car and most parts are readily available from ebay, Omicron and the Betaboyz club.

Very pleased that I kept mine!
