If it bounces a lot in the test drive, check if Wishbones need replacing.
Turn the steering full lock, if you hear squeaking/rubbing, then the upper wishbones need replacing. About £120 for both but lower wishbones are more.
JTD engines are more solid than TS but still check for oil.
Cambelt on the JTD is 3 years or 36k as well I think. Costs about £400 on top of the service to replace.

No, Alfa never revised that and it remains at 72,000 miles or 5 years - whichever comes sooner. It's probably a bit too long to leave it but it's nowhere near as critical as the Twin Sparks. If you go for the 16 valve JTD, change the waterpump at the same time as the cambelt as they have been known to throw a wobbly. The 8 valve JTD waterpump is OK.As above just listen for clonks from the suspension as the bushes aren't the greatest. Check tyres wear is even right across the tread. Other than that usual used car checks - all electrics work, spare keys, handbook, HPI.
Last thing, check which spec you prefer - Turismo/Lusso is too soft for some people, Veloce/Ti is too hard for others!
And if you find any good ones can you let us know where. Ive been looking since Sept last year and cant find a decent one within striking distance of the midlands. So if anyone has a facelift JTD veloce sportwagon with leather (preferably black or red) for under £4.5k let me know.....
