GTV Died this morning, Ground to a halt, RAC Man reckons it needs a new engine, horrible knocking and grinding noise started about a second before it died.
Oil, water etc were all good, MOT and serviced December so its not unloved thats for sure.
So after its been taken to my mechanic we should get the final opinion but there is probably going to be a GTV with a knackered engine for spares etc in Reading, Full black leather interior in good nick and even the body work is in pretty decent nick if anyone is interested let me know.
Its in Reading by the way.

RAC man was right cars dead.
Tactfully described by my mechanic as a "Banger" oh well that was the end of the Alfa Experience.
Kind of wish I had taken the few hundred quid a few weeks ago as trade in rather than deal with it, not even paying attention to the money I spent on getting it through its MOT in December.

That's good I suppose.
Sounds like bottom end trouble - oil pump might have give up.
Do you know if it's ever had cambelt failure in the past?
OT slightly but.. mine has! What should I be wary of? It was rebuilt by the previous owner - seem to remember I have a receipt for £3000 or so for the rebuild.Sounds like bottom end trouble - oil pump might have give up.

There seems to be a tendency on the Twin Spark to lunch it's bottom end a few thousand miles after the cambelt has let go - IF repairs have ONLY been made to the top end. It seems in some cases the shock of the valves hitting the pistons can ripple down and the big ends can go a while later. It seems to happen on cars where the belt goes and then the thing is repaired to sell on quickly. I'm sure if yours has had a £3000 rebuild it will be fine!
