hi there,
right, firstly,i've done a bit of thread reading and have decided on the 2.0 lump, but a few cars that i like are what some of you call 'sillyspeed' (selespeed), is it really silly though? is it that rubbish that it'll break and cost a bomb or are they generally ok,as some have said steer clear, but i havn't heard anyone saying they're ok? should i just stay safe and buy a manual or what...help please!!
thanks, mart.

Ok well selespeed is actually quite a lot of fun esp when it blips going down but they are rpone to problems no point kidding yourself. There were a good few changes made to dial out a lot of the problems in the later gen 156's though so if you want to take a gamble go for it bearing in mind if it goes wrong you are looking at a bill of 500 - 800 quid.
Make sure oil and cambelt have been done regularly and you should be fairly ok.
