Alfa 166 3.0 V6 Cam belt Snapped
Discussion
Hi I have recently aquired a 1999 Alfa 166 3.0 V6 with a snapped cam belt, I have partially stripped the engine, plenum & inlet pipes are off & I can now see the backs of the inlet valves via the inlet ports & none of the appear to be bent! Has anyone had an experience of these engines with a snapped belt? Do they always bend valves? Obviously I can't see the exhaust valves, but I would have expected at least some of the inlets to be bent, I'm tempted to stick a new belt in & see what happens, anyone have any thoughts? Any help much appreciated. Thanks . . . .

Sorry no experience - phone Jamie Porter at alfa workshop in Royston, they've seen it all 01763 245 481They will be bent at the base ,not the stem ,so you wont see yet!IMHO ,very unlikely to have got away without bending most of them - they are not very strong! Also ,they dont need to bend much to be bent - often all but invisible ,especially in place.
Good luck with the rebuild - lovley cars!
