Well, my missus decided to take a chunk out of the drivers side, lower sill/ wheel arch of the Alfa yesterday. frown

The car is pretty new ('08) and was in nigh on perfect cosmetic condition, so it would be nice to put it right.

This looks expensive to me:

That panel is clearly enormous as it contains the sill, wheel arch and virtually the whole side of the car!

Does this look like a new panel job, or could someone actually let some metal in and 'repair' it?

I don't think my missus is keen to spend a fortune on it, nor claim on insurance, so something which was 'cosmetically' sound (since it isn't really structural etc or 'that' noticeable down there) would be the favourable option, though I would want a good rust prevention job done to ensure we have no ongoing problems. Clearly I could be out there with the GRP, but perhaps that is a bit too 'bodge' for an '08 car.

Any recommendations for who to try/ talk to about it, preferably in SW London? I am thinking that a dealer would be into 4 figures for a panel of that size.

Many thanks in advance,

Dom

Very straightforward repair.

Skim with filler, flat down, paint, bake in oven, buff up, return to owner.

You'd pay around £200 - £250 up here for that. Bit more no doubt for London rates.

Just what I wanted to hear!

Thanks MJK - Probably should have posted this on SELOC, quiet in here today, huh!?

I don't think Lou would be too upset with <£300...

Might be cheaper sticking side skirts on?

I've given up on body repairs as long as they're rustproof.

Some tosser in a carpark will only scrape it then bugger off a week after the car is returned to pristine condition frown

Well, at least she didn't open the door into my 911... As usual!!! frown

Side skirt idea is a possibility, but probably more expensive by the time you buy them, paint them and fit them, huh?

Never made it to the bodyshop over the weekend, will try again this week, maybe!?
