Quick question guys, our 156 has a little issue that is growing more common. Basically if you are partaking in some spirited driving, sometimes the clutch pedal seems to stick for a fraction of a second when you push it down. This makes the car sort of lurch forward as the pedal stays down and then springs up to meet your foot when you lift off it trying to feed it in gently. It only happens when you've pressed the pedal down quickly and not all the time. We've checked it isnt getting stuck under a mat or anything daft like that, so does it have a cable and could this be on the way out. The actual clutch isnt slipping so hoping its an easy (cheap) fix!

Clutch slave cylinder mate.

Got mine changed with the clutch on my V6.

The parts about £20 but on a V6 it's very much a job you do with the clutch at the same time as just changing the slave cylinder is not easy.

No idea re the twin sparks/JTD'S, might be an easy change on those..

What was the cost for a clutch change if you don't mind me asking? Mine feels like it will soon be in need of changing!

Hi, mine went all of a sudden when overtaking. Just went then slipping in all gears. Inc slave cyclinder, clutch kit and fitting + VAT, it came in about £480. If your cars aproaching 90k miles, better get saving!

Incidently my clutch was sticky as stated in OP's post when replaced, but this cured itself after 20 or so miles. Think it was the slave cylinder bedding itself in.

Top cars by the way have you had a go at changing the plugs yet?!

Mine is nearing 140,000 miles but had it replaced when previous owner's cambelt snapped (£4k bill!!) so hopefully it has got some life in it yet. I love the engine bay layout. Even trying to free up the battery to replace involves removing the air filter/inlet pipe.. good times!
