But if your looking at an S3 below £1000 you will probably only be able to get a bag of nails. Those few that are available (they only imported 100 odd) are either knackered or very good. The good ones are starting to fetch £2k+ and are in demand from the enthusiasts. Anything else will need money spending on it as it will be at least 15 years old - suspension bushes (advisable to fit Ferrari Thema bushes), dampers (some have electronic dampers at £500 each), interior bits and pieces, all the belts, balance shaft bearings, water pump and engine torque reaction bush + any bodyshell issues. All of which will cost near on the same as the car advertised above.
Great cars (I owned an S3 turbo for 7 years) but if your budget is c.£1000 I would look for an S2 car as I don't think you will get an S3 that isn't a pile of trouble, if you can find one at all, in that range.
