After a succession of German cars, I'm considering one of these as a daily hack, currently do about 35,000 miles a year.

Can anyone tell me about performance, reliability & mpg etc etc.

Looking at one about 3yrs old for about £14k, low mileage.

Thanks

How much is crapola Rick?

Do a 230 mile commute twice a week, sit at 80 on the motorway all the way (mostly)

What do you reckon it'd do mpg wise?

Tip - there should be a 1 owner red 2.4JTD Brera coming into Hitchin (or Stevenage) Alfa Romeo in the next couple of weeks (if not already) as my Dad has just sold his to them as he's got a CLK. It's in great nick and well looked after. Should be around your price point too

Probably high 20's low 30's at best I'm afraid.

Such a shame. The old 175bhp version of this engine was fantastic. It seems in 200/210 form they've just pushed it a bit further than it wants to go and that combined with standard DPF filters has screwed the mpg.

Tip - you can always tell which Breras are JTDs as they are the only ones with clean exhaust tips!

Strewth!

I used to get 31 average from both 330ci and TTV6, that's appalling!

Hmmmmm, might be a re-think then.....

Thanks for the replies.

I've done exactly that, german stuff to 2.4 Alfa Brera doing around 35k a year.

I cannot beleive you will get less than 30 mpg on an 80 mile commute. The computers on the Brera's appear to be accurate, I've checked mine and found it to be accurate to around 0.2mpg. Over the last 10k miles mine has averaged 33.4mpg. Mostly motorway mileage. Dicking about it will do 30ish. Once when bored I slipstreamed a lorry on the M4 from Swindon to Newbury and door to door averaged 45mpg! So it isn't great but not that bad!

I had a 159 2.4 JTDm (210) as a courtesy car last year and struggled to better 25mpg. My DC5 does better with the same driving. Don't know what that thing did with its diesel. Useless.
