Cat D/C Alfa GT
Discussion
Hi, just a quick question i was wondering if it would be a good idea to buy an Alfa GT (JTD or JTS) that has sustained medium damage to front - bonnet, wings, lights, grille etc. As for engine it runs, gearbox fine etc.
Obviously hpi on logbook - not bother me
and needs these various parts
Good idea or not? - seem a couple for £3k - what sort of costs would be involved?
Or do you think i should by a straight one - but with a high mileage?
2.0 JTS or the 1.9JTD
budget is max £5k??
cheers

You dont even need to buy a high miles one to get one in budget

V.O.S.A are getting so tight if they fart it would cause an avalange in New Zealand. It may seem like a good idea but only buy to break. If you have to do any structural repairs you will need an S.V.A as well, if the car's original number's been sold on you will get an age related plate, the car will be unsellable in the future and cost more to insure.
I repaired a 206Gti at the start of the year. Car £1495, parts £400, V.O.S.A £45, M.O.T £40, Insurance £841.33 (due to cars history) Sold the car for £1800
Bought a (two year older) 206Gti from a known dealer for £1695 (pertial history clear Hpi), Insurance £412.84

No difference in insurance. You'll get paid out less in the event of a loss but they don't care. It makes no difference to their risk whatsoever.I repaired a 206Gti at the start of the year. Not aware of VOSA check unless you mean VIC check (only Cat C anyway). Never heard of written off cars needing any form of SVA????
