Copied from GG, as i thought i may get more specific knowledge...

Following on from the blackcircles post on the main page. i've sort of decided on one of 2 tyres,

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 205/50 R16 Y (87) £99.06 each
or
Toyo Proxes T1-R 205/50 R16 W (87) £75.22 each

My other option is... change the wheels. Currently i have 147 wheels on it (came fitted when i got the car) but i also have the original wheels (need a refurb). I cant decide whether to keep the 147 wheels, refurb and get the original 16's fitted or go the whole hog and get some 17" teledials off a V6 from ebay(not even sure if they fit).... What does the PH fraternity think?

Do the 17" wheels fit on a GTV and does anyone know where i can get a set of Teledials from a GTV as opposed to 156??

It's gotta be the teardrops or teledials for the GTV. Those 147 wheels just look wrong.

Personally, I favour the style of the 16" teardrops but the 17" teledials fill the arches more convincingly - they do reduce the ride quality a bit though.

Tyres-wise, the best I've used on the GTV are the Eagle F1 GSD3s. Haven't tried the Proxes for comparison, though.

+1

I always used Eagle F1's on my GTV - great tyre, really suits the car!

I may well be talking b*llocks here, (as I usually do) so please ignore me if I am, but I'm sure I read something about the wheel offsets being different on a gtv to a 156 and 147? Is this true or am I imagining it? Can you use any alfa wheels on any alfa basically?

have more faith in yourself.. your completely correct. they are different offsets.. but not by alot and as i already have 147 wheels, i already have spacers fitted. therefore the 156 teledials im looking at will fit as per the ones that are on atm...

i would prefer teardrop teledials, but they seem rare as anything! cant find any.... these 16" teledials im looking at should be under £150 with 4 tyres that will last a few months... so think i may go that way!

Teardrops on the Spider and teledials on the GTV... IMO smile

p.s. Eagle F1s are excellent.

Or to add another option 17" supersports, also with spacers.

interesting.. but im not sold on those.... will see what comes of the teledials... as they will cost more in the long run... they have 205/55's on.. but gtv should have 205/50's

Mine had the 16" tear drops as standard, but i found those Supersports cheapish locally so went for it and was happy enough, the spacers cost a fair bit extra mind you!

Yep slight difference in the tyre size, if you manage to get a set of 17" GTV teles they are the best i think. or Zender siennas which are even rarer.

Also a guy I know in Glasgow has 8C replicas on his, looks great!

i've been in touch with a company that have 17" teledials from a GTV they are breaking... waiting to hear back on wheel/tyre condition as they were described as 'legal tyres' which doesnt give me great confidence... They want £540 delivered, which seems reasonable. if the tyres end up being decent i think i may cave in and buy them...

stag do first week of september should be interesting.... i've heard prague is cheap i shall be broke as a motherfker...

EDIT: ref the Zender wheels, there is a set on ebay for not a huge amount of money.....

scratchchin Can't see these? There are a set of Zender alloys but not the 18" Sienna style specifically designed for Alfas, or am I looking in the wrong place?

Those are the standard 16" tear drop alloys fitted to Spiders. IMO they wouldn't look so good on a GTV, don't know why scratchchin

Don't rule out Falken FK-452s.
Got them on my Coupe and they're fine. About 200 quid for all 4 corners.

Another one to look for is the Falken ZE-912s, I've just got a couple on the front of my V6 and they're great. Probably 95% as good as the Goodyear GSD3s that I've had before, but I do drive fairly steadily most of the time.
