Hello guys. Hope you're all well. To cut a long story short, I own a Seat Ibiza Chill. Its a lovely car but after 6 months of ownership I've been considering the idea of an Alfa.

The only issue for me is that I'm the tender age of 19 so insurance is a killer, even if I plump for the basic 1.6. Really what I'm looking for is some advice on who would offer me competitive rates for Alfa insurance. I pay about 170 per month at the moment for the Seat so it would be great if I could find a deal from someone at less than 200.

Thanks in advance and I hope to soon be a regular visitor to the Alfa forums and a member of the Alfisti.

I'd leave it for a bit as Alfas are ridiculously grouped for what they are. Isn't a bog standard 147 pretty close to Golf GTI grouping? That's just ludicrous!
Paying what a 1.6 is worth every year in insurance is just mentalism imo. Take the pain until you're at least 21 driving something more boring then the world's your lobster. If you've got £200 a month for insurance stick the extra into a more interesting car fund for when Mr. Happy from Aviva stops laughing as he whips your pants down and asks you to assume the position.

I'm just over £25 a month for a Fiat Coupe!

To be fair I havent found the insurance on my alfa too bad considering I got it when I was 19 and is a group 11 car. I think having NCB helped alot though.

Take a look at Egg, they gave me a very reasonable quote, noticeably cheaper than the competition.

I got my 147 when i was 20 and if cost £1063.00 for the first year. Interestingly Barclay's Bank gave me that quote,
But I've been with premium choice the past two years. http://www.premiumchoice.co.uk/ give them a try.

Also don't be surprised if a diesel (1.9JTD) is cheapest as it was in my case. It's better then both the 1.6 and 2.0 in my opinion.

Thanks for all the kind replies.

A 1.6 seems like the route I will take, although it may also be worth looking towards the diesel engine. It does seem that group 11 is a little steep considering what the cars actually are but this is the pill I'm going to have to swallow.

I'm not sure how long I can cope seeing 147s drive past before the lure of an Alfa reels me in laugh
