Theres an Alfa GTV6 near me that has been sitting on a drive for the past year at least.

Is it worth saving? Looks in nice condition - Silver with black leather. On a Y plate i think. Usual rust starting along the lower edges of the car, tyres all flat.

I remember seeing one in James Bond (Octopussy?) and it sounded and drove well. I guess that thses are usual italian rust buckets and will cost a fortune to put back on the road.

Should i ask the guy to sell it to me???

How about he just gives it you instead?

It wont be pretty if it has been left outside.

Give this chap a shout: http://www.alexjupemotorsport.co.uk

He knows them inside out.

If the shell is fundamentally solid then it's prob worth saving as mechanicaly they're pretty tough and reasonably cheap to restore.

Alex Jupe is indeed the man to speak to first.

From what you describe, having been stood for a while, the chances are that the car will be a pretty poor state, certainly body-wise. These tend to rot quiite quickly and more so if it has a sunroof (becuase of blocked drains, etc).

A total (proper) restoration of a basket case GTV6 can knock you back £15-20K very quickly. Even a car that looks fantastic at first view can be pretty grotty underneath.

In summary, very high risk case. If you are desperately keen on an Alfetta GTV6 or 75, etc rather call Alex and ask him if he knows any cars where the owner has spent £20K plus and is is wanting to sell for £8K. Alex knows where the good cars are and this is the cheapest route into buying a sorted car.....ask me how I know (Alex has 2 of my cars there at the moment!). He is pretty busy at the moment moving workshops so may not answer first time but well worth speaking to.
