As title suggests. Can anyone tell me where I might get one? As I've been quoted £500 for cambelt change and £680 for anti-roll bar bush replacement by a local Alfa dealer which I think is excessive. Thanks.

Thanks. Has anyone done either of the above on their cars? If so, was it difficult?

I wouldn't attempt the cambelt yourself unless you have the right gauge/ability/cam lock tools to time it up correctly. (ie if you have never changed a cambelt, then not the best idea). A good specialist like Alfa Workshop are almost nearly the best value, along with AforAlfa (SE), Alfanet (SW) e.t.c

Also with the 1.9 JTD's it's almost essential to get the waterpump changed at the same time.

PS: Nice Chimp!

I have changed cambelts before but not on an Alfa, Thought I'd ask as £500 means either there's a lot involved or they're takin' the piss. PS; thanks for compliment, done some work on this one including a bit of 'nos'.

Only on the 16 valvers. Not sure if the OP's is.

I had our (8 valve) cambelt done as part of a service at my local independant this year. Think it came to about £400 all in - full service, cambelt and idler, MOT. Not too hard on these engines. You don't need camlocks and all the stuff you do on the petrols. See here for a quick "how to" guide!

Thanks. Ours is an 8 valve and I'd heard about the 16 valve waterpump problem. The garage wanted £500 just for cambelt change, nothing else.
Has anyone done anti-roll bar bushes? [knocking on front].
I have to say we have had the car from new and the bushes are the only thing to go wrong with it. The cam-belt change is a precaution as it's just done 39k miles but is on a 53 plate so I'm thinking age.
We have had quite a few cars, both fancy and not so fancy and this 147 is probably the best car we've had and so want to keep it a little longer.

Yes, get it done! Ours was done at 30,000'ish this March when it turned 5 years old.
