Been offered a car for the missus which would be ideal for her but the mileage worries Me a bit.

Its a X Reg Punto 1.2 Sporting, full MOT, Full service history, excellent condition, has all the extras (comfort pack whatever that is) and to be fair it runs like a dream. 6 Speed gearbox as well. Its a friends car so I know there is no hidden niggles or dodgy history. Only thing is is that it has done 130,000 miles! Mainly motorway as He used it to go from Edinburgh to London regular. As I say there are no faults but the mileage seems a lot for a little Punto. He wants around half the price of what they are currently going for though due to the mileage!

So, is it a no no or are these cars capable of that sort of mileage if they are well cared for??

How much is it up for?

The mileage itself shouldnt be a problem if you are planning to keep it for a while (ie run it into the ground)

If you know the cars history and he's a good mate then it might not be so bad.

Check when major work, e.g. clutch, brakes, etc were last done.

Is the car still on the original engine?

Yes still on the original engine and appears to be fine (runs a treat).

Dont worry about the engine. These things will go on for half a million miles if the oil's changed regularly.

The rest of the car will fall apart around it but the engine will be fine.
