Any GTV's for sale?
Discussion
Posted this in the South Coast forum but worth asking here too me thinks...
Anyone know of any Alfa GTV's for sale in Hampshire and surrounding areas?
Am looking for a new car and have looked at Pistonheads/Autotrader but was wondering if the good folk of the South Coast have seen any decent looking GTV's in their local garages - or even if you know someone that might be selling one?
Will probably either going to get an older model for up to £1500 or I could push the budget to almost £2500 if I saw a mint one with history/cambelt/posh leather!
(PS: if anyone owns an Alfa and wants to give me some pointers on what to look for that wqould be much appreciated too!)

Go to the classifieds mate , type in your post-code + you can narrow it down to GTVs for sale within 50 miles
Classifieds is a good idea but why limit your search distance? For a fairly rare car like a GTV it would be worth traveling a fair distance to get the right one. I live in Perthshire and in the past few years I have traveled to Southampton, Manchester and Birmingham in order to get the right car.
Regarding GTV's if possible it would be worth getting a phase 2, they are better looking inside and out.
Check the buyers guide on the Alfa Workshop website - I used it when buying my GTV V6.

I'd sell you mine but I'm in Aberdeen. Good luck with your search, if you find a good one you'll love it.

Excellent - I'll have a look at that. Cheers Pete. Aberdeen and Southampton couldn't be much further apart sadly but thanks for the offer! http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/alfa_romeo_gtv.shtml

As for the buying guide the Alfa workshop guide is good IMHO. Like any other car check tyres, exhaust and battery + cambelt for Alfas remembering that they are due a change at a mileage or time limit. Good luck.

Maybe I'll check my piggybank to see what more I can find!
I do like the V6 which is why it's my daily drive. I also appreciate that the twin spark is a good car (I had an immaculate 147TS.) What I was trying to say was that if you buy from the bottom end of the market you may find that the repairs are more than it would have been to buy a better car in the first place and mint TS cars although very cheap are not dirt cheap. I would also be prepared to travel to find the right car.
Fair points JR - certainly not going to chance it with a car that doesn't have a history. Having experienced both types of engine (albeit in different cars) are they massively different in character? Not fussed about being a speed merchant but having just sold an E36 328 I'd like it to have a decent shove.
Travelled to Crewe for my last car so around 190 miles each way. Slightly wary of travelling too far and finding that a car isn't as nice as I'd hoped but will certainly broaden my range.

Whats the interior like Jez? Leather I'm guessing? Is that the original colour? Never seen one like that.
What are the "scratch/scuffs" like? Pm me if you want.

That paint looks like the lovely iridescent Nuvola blue.I will be getting more photos up when I can....
Interior is a very dark blue leather.
One scratch above o/s front wheel arch 1 inch by 1/2 inch, other marks are pretty miniscule, a little bit of bubbly paint on bonnet below windscreen.
The paint is the nuvola blue that changes colour depending on the angle.
Alloys in good nick.
It is a nice one to be fair, I had another GTV a couple of years ago and this one is soooo much tighter. Puts a smile on my face when I get to drive it which is only a couple of times a fortnight.
This GTV replaced my 156 GTA, both awesome but in different ways.
