Tyres for a 156 2.0lt JTS Veloce
Discussion
Hi, I've just purchased a mint 156 on the standard 16" wheels, and the tyres on the car must have cost about £20 for the set!! They are awful, and I need to change them. Can anyone recommend the best tyres to suit the car for both good handling & good wear. It uses 205/55 x 16's. Thanks Howard

I would say a Pirelli PZero Nero.
I wouldn't!!
My 156 came with those on. They were wooden and lifeless. The car was transformed by a set (and subsequent sets!) of GSD2s. I also tried Dunlop Sport Maxx which were better than the Pirellis, but not as good as the GSD2s. Bear in mind this was before GSD3s came out and there was all the knicker twisting about Far East Polyester.
Goodyear F1s (GSD1 and 2) were a common and popular fitment on these cars from new so I wouldn't knock them too much. P Zero Rossos were also popular - and that is a very different tyre from the Nero.

Thanks for your replies, I've sourced a good deal on some GSD3's at £72 each fitted including VAT, fitting, valve and disposal of old tyres. I'll let you know how I find them. Appreciate your help, Howard
Confirm that they don't have 'polyester' cast into the sidewall.Gassing Station | Alfa Romeo, Fiat & Lancia | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
