Brera 3.2S Prodrive, Red, Stolen
Discussion
Really sorry to hear that news.
Out of interest (I have a Brera S too) was there any indication of how they took it? - just wondering if there is a weak point anywhere that can be protected against, eg by upgrading imobiliser etc. (PM me if easier than posting such things on a public forum.)
Will keep my eyes out and also worth checking fleabay for things like the wheels in case they come up, (given the S is the only way to get the 8C wheels this side of a 8C)

They stole the keys...so the only known weakspot is our domestic security! It had less than 2000 miles on it....my wife is devastated because she had saved for that car for a long time...

Stolen off our drive this morning from Oadby, Leicester.
Reg Number FE59AZU.
Red with grey wheels, pretty distinctive and rare as you all know, so if anyone sees a Red Brera 3.2S in the Midlands please let me know (or the police) dc5583@gmail.com

I'd called my sis to moan about about my car woes and then she told me this

Speak to you soon.
Breaking news!
A couple of days after the insurance company paid out in full...
The car was found in Leicester!
But there's more - I visited my Mum and Sis' in Leicester a couple of weeks ago and as I drove down had this funny feeling that I'd see the car on the journey. I didn't though but I did see an identical Brera in Leicester a couple of days later and being unable to pursue I took the number and through my sister it was reported to the Police.
Apparently this was a legit number registered to an identical Brera.
However it was my sisters car as the number had been cloned and this was the plate it had on it when it was found.
Organised crime or what?

^ Doubt it. Tracker blockers are pretty common now. They are easy to get hold off and work pretty well. I have tried one in the works van which is tracker'd.
Sadly all you can do is secure your home as well as possible so that your keys are as difficult as possible to access.
A friend had his DB4 stolen and when it was recovered (VERY lucky) a couple of weeks later, it was discovered the first thing the thieves searched for was the tracker, as all the carpets e.t.c were lifted out.Sadly all you can do is secure your home as well as possible so that your keys are as difficult as possible to access.

police find it? Quite often the theives leave the car in a particular spot for a couple of days to see if it has a tracker. The police are very good at finding these places luckily.
The blockers I've seen plug into the cig lighter are worked very well. I tried one not so long ago and looked on our tracking companys website afterwards - according to them, the van sat outside my home in Yorkshire until 9am in the morning when it suddenly appeared in London (I turned the engine off upon arriving in Dartford - cutting the power to the cig lighter obviously)
This is interesting because as far as I'm aware, all or most vehicle trakers use GSM mobile networks and have a sim card ect. If the blocker worked on my company vans vehicle tracker then it will surely work on the type of tracker people purchase to help the police locate it if stolen.
Those trackers aren't cheap and theirs a yearly subscription to pay. Effectively a waste of money if I'm right?

, as this particular group normally targetted jeeps but spotted the 4 in passing.I think he is now going to fit a tracker (mainly on the request of the insurance company) but knows it will be quickly found if fitted :/

I imagine that household safes will be compulsory in the near future as a condition of insurance!! No safe = stratospheric premium. Safe = No change (but you've had to buy a safe).Gassing Station | Alfa Romeo, Fiat & Lancia | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
